His live calls are some of the most famous in college football. Whether you go with The Miracle at Jordan-Hare or the Kick Six, Rod Bramblett’s voice will always be heard and remembered by college football fans, no matter where they live.

Now, Bramblett’s legacy will be honored with his name adorning the radio booth at Plainsman Park and will officially become the Rod Bramblett Home Radio Booth.

It’s an honor that means a lot to many, including his former on-air partner, Andy Burcham.

Auburn honoring the late Rod Bramblett with a terrific honor

“I can’t think of a better way to honor the legacy of Rod Bramblett,” Burcham said. “The first sport he called for his alma mater was baseball, and the new Plainsman Park was built during his tenure as the baseball voice. He loved Auburn baseball and calling games from the booth that bears his name, and this is a tremendous way for us to honor his legacy.”

After the heartbreaking death of both Rod and his wife, Paula, due to a car accident on May 25, 2019, Burcham took over as the Voice of the Auburn Tigers, the same role Bramblett filled from 2003 to his passing. But it was another role that Burcham and his wife, Jan, took on that was way more important: guardianship of the Bramblett’s two kids, Josh and Shelby.

Auburn head baseball coach Butch Thompson, who joined the Tigers in 2016, is still learning about Bramblett through Burcham.

“Just a friend. I know what he means to Andy (Burcham),” Thompson said. “From my standpoint, Rod is still with us because of Andy’s spirit. That’s how Rod’s name comes up the most to me is through Andy.”

And as the No. 4 Tigers host No. 5 Georgia in the final weekend series of the regular season in another marquee matchup in a season full of them, Thompson understands that Saturday’s ceremony will be emotional for everyone involved.

“Saturday is a big deal, and hopefully the whole Auburn Family knows that,” he said. “Both of these guys, Andy and Rod, were the voice of Auburn, Auburn football, but buddy, they loved baseball, and they started over here first. I do know that from those four years. That this baseball stuff and calling those baseball games was where they got started. That first love was always baseball, and I would just say may we honor that properly to the best of our ability this weekend with that ceremony.”
