Auburn has added another big man in Santa Clara transfer Bukky Oboye, the school announced on Friday.
The 7-foot-1 center averaged 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and put up a team-high 40 blocks as a redshirt sophomore for the Broncos last season, who finished the season 26-9.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Bukky Oboye into the Auburn Family,” Steven Pearl said. “He’s one of the most physically gifted prospects you’ll find – an elite runner and leaper with rare size who impacts the game at the rim on both ends of the floor at such a high level.”
Okoye, who played in 61 games in two seasons at Santa Clara, is the second 7-footer that Auburn has signed this offseason, joining Narcisse Ngoy, who signed with the Tigers out of France.
Pearl has been impressed with the progress Oboye has made during his time in college.

“What stands out even more than his tools is his growth,” Pearl said. “He’s shown improvements every single day, and the more he plays the better he becomes. If Bukky stays on the path he’s been on, he has a chance to be a very special player on the Plains.”
If anything, Pearl and his staff are following a blueprint that served teams such as national champion Michigan, Illinois, Purdue, Florida and others well this past season, while addressing a problem the Tigers had last season: a lack of size. The Wolverines and Boilermakers used their size advantage to blow out Auburn last season, and with Alex Condon returning to the Gators, Todd Golden’s squad will still have plenty of height inside.
While Michigan was a great team overall, it was hard to look past what Dusty May’s squad could do to teams inside. Auburn struggled against teams with size all season, with KeShawn Murphy being the tallest player at 6-foot-10 and regularly played.
The Tigers found success inside during their SEC title run and Final Four trip in 2025, as Johni Broome and Dylan Cardwell dominated the paint for much of the season. If Auburn is going to have success next season, Oboye and Ngoy will have to produce.
