Few names bring back memories of Auburn football like Jason Campbell and Tommy Tuberville, and now the two are set to be honored with an induction into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.
The two figures helped lead Auburn to an undefeated season in 2004, one of the most unforgettable in school history. The Tigers went 13-0, claiming the SEC Championship with a 38-28 win over Tennessee and capping the perfect season with a thrilling 16-13 victory against Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Their perfect record reflected the leadership and poise of Campbell and Tuberville, who guided the team every step of the way.
Campbell was the steady leader at quarterback, guiding Auburn through their perfect 2004 season. Over his career from 2001 to 2004, he completed 552 of 854 passes for 7,299 yards and 45 touchdowns, putting him second all-time in both passing yards and touchdown passes in school history. His combined passing and rushing totals also rank among Auburn’s best. After college, Campbell was selected in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft and went on to play nine seasons in the NFL. Today he continues to stay close to the program as Auburn's football radio analyst.
uberville helped take Auburn to a new level of consistency during his tenure from 1999 to 2008. He finished with an 85-40 record, putting him among the winningest coaches in school history. The Tigers went to seven straight bowl games, including four on New Year’s Day, and won 49 SEC games as head coach. One of his most impressive feats was a streak of six straight Iron Bowl victories from 2002 to 2007, still the longest in program history. Over his entire college coaching career, Tuberville compiled a 159-99 record, showing that his success extended well beyond his time at Auburn.
For Auburn fans, Campbell and Tuberville’s Hall of Fame induction is a reminder of the unforgettable 2004 season as a reflection of the high standards and lasting success the program has built over the years.
