Alex Golesh has had a lot on his plate since becoming the new Auburn head football coach on November 30. Between the Early Signing Period, which started this past Wednesday, and recruiting the current players on the roster, the 41-year-old Golesh has also had to fill out his coaching staff.

He accomplished some of that on Monday.

In a press release from Auburn, Golesh has officially announced DJ Durkin (defensive coordinator/linebackers), Joel Gordon (offensive coordinator/quarterbacks), Tyler Hudanick (run game coordinator/offensive line), Brad Wilson (defensive assistant) and Andrew Warsaw (general manager) as recent hires to his staff.

"I'm excited to announce these first five hires as we continue building our staff here at Auburn,” Golesh said. “Our approach has been really simple. We want elite people in every area of our program. Auburn has the resources to go get the best in the country, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

“Everyone who touches our players matters. These are elite men, elite teachers and elite recruiters. They will do right by these young men and help us deliver the kind of program the Auburn Family deserves.”

DJ Durkin officially kept on as defensive coordinator

Durkin is the only holdover from the previous staff under Hugh Freeze. One of the candidates to become the new Auburn head coach, Durkin instead will stay on as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, a move that will thrill the players who have played under him during his first two years on the Plains.

Warsaw, Gordon, Hudanick and Wilson were all on Golesh’s staff at USF this past season.
