Boo birds came early and often in Jordan-Hare Stadium as Auburn's offense proved unable to move the ball. And this wasn't against Georgia, Alabama or a defense that was feared. It was against Kentucky, who entered the matchup in Jordan-Hare Stadium ranked 89th in total defense and 109th in scoring defense, allowing 29.9 points per game.

Hugh Freeze and the Tigers walked off the field with a total of three points in a 10-3 loss that might very well end the career of the head coach after two-plus seasons.

It was ugly from the start, as Ashton Daniels, who provided a spark in the win against Arkansas last week, was unable to give the Tigers any momentum in the first half, completing 6-of-14 pass attempts for 42 yards.

Freeze stuck with him until the fourth quarter, when he inserted Jackson Arnold. As it turned out, it didn't matter who was in at quarterback for Auburn as they continued to stall on drives when the game was on the line. After two drives, Freeze went back to Daniels.

Again, no change, only despair.

Many fans had already fled the stands of Jordan-Hare on a chilly night on the Plains, with the once-full stadium now seeing more empty seats than spectators. The chants of "Fire Hugh Freeze!" were certainly there. As Kentucky's defense caught a Hail Mary pass in the south endzone of the stadium, it was the Wildcats celebrating, helping their head coach possibly receive another chance, while Auburn's coach might be on his last breath.

In the end, the Tigers put up 241 yards of offense.

We don't know what will happen in the next 24 hours, but after a loss like this, the writing is on the wall. Auburn fans, who showed up, deserve better than what they saw on the field on Saturday night in a game where the Tigers were double-digit favorites. It's gotten to a place on the Plains where something, anything, must be done.
