In the modern-day era of college football, recruiting never stops, even among the players on your own roster. But Auburn Tigers football coach Hugh Freeze and his staff knew they would have to bring in several key pieces from the transfer portal with players headed to the NFL and exhausting their eligibility.
The headliner of the transfer portal haul this year is, of course, former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold. The Tigers are working with a completely new set of quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season and fans are hoping for an improvement from what they saw at the position last year.
Another star from the haul is former Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., who brings a high level of talent and experience to the wide receiver room. He will likely play a role similar to that of KeAndre Lambert-Smith, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Tigers added 20 players from the transfer portal after the 2024 season, and 247 Sports ranks the haul as the No. 8 transfer class in the country.
So, is Auburn football done in the portal? When asked, Freeze basically did everything but give an outright 'no.'
“I think so,” he said when asked directly, per AL.com. "I don’t know of a single thing right now that interests us in it."
