This has been a very bad week for Auburn Tiger fans.
Though the football team is 3-2 and heading into the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry game as a massive underdog to Georgia, it's actually the other sports that also have fans down.
Here is the latest Tigers-related news that has the Auburn family spiraling:
Banana Ball announces Auburn as opening weekend location
The Plains welcoming Banana Ball during its opening weekend to Plainsman Park and Jordan-Hare Stadium has been polarizing among Tiger fans on social media.
On the one hand, the games will pull in major revenue that can be turned around and used for Auburn athletics. NIL spending and Amenities at the stadium should improve. Local businesses will get out-of-towners who wouldn't have otherwise traveled to Lee County. Children who are getting into baseball will feel tangible joy watching this.
On the other hand, announcing this right now, when sports purists are watching the CFP expand to 24 teams and college athletics as a whole is losing any sense of amateurism, is just another reason to hate the future.
With concerts and a World Cup Friendly making their way into Auburn facilities, it was only a matter of time before Banana Ball made its way.
I nominate Monster Jam to join the party next.
Auburn basketball inspires worry in exhibition loss to Florida State
Steven Pearl's squad took an 82-71 loss to Florida State at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham on Wednesday night.
The Seminoles shot 40 free throws and outrebounded the Tigers 51-40 on the boards. Auburn's big man duo of Narcisse Ngoy and Bukky Oboye were "punked," as Pearl put it.
There's the typical caveat that it's a preseason game, and Mantas Rubštavičius, Owen Freeman, and Kolby King were all absent.
Still, there were bad habits that some might pin on the coaching. The product wasn't an enjoyable watch.
When Tiger fans are dealing with an unpleasant offense in football, watching the basketball team look so flat is worrying.
What is there to look forward to in the future of Auburn athletics right now?
Basketball simply cannot suffer a second straight March Madness-less campaign under Steven.
Iowa State hires Auburn executive AD Jared Benko
In some administrative news, Iowa State hired executive athletic director Jared Benko as its new athletic director.
Benko had two different stops at Auburn and was overseeing business operations, NIL and revenue sharing, NIL events and strategic initiatives, player management, contracts, human resources, information technology, equipment, sports performance and sports medicine.
His heavy involvement in the Tigers' NIL since arriving in his second stint in late 2024 is notable.
Take from that what you will.
