In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn basketball prepares to take on Duke in a road test while several football players are headed to big all-star games in the post-season
After winning the 2024 Maui Invitational, the Auburn basketball team is riding a big wave of momentum, which will be important for their road trip this week. The Tigers are traveling to the formidable Cameron Indoor to take on the Duke Blue Devils.
It will be Auburn's second trip to Durham, but head coach Bruce Pearl's first in his 40 years of coaching.
“We get an opportunity to go play one of the best teams in the country in one of the toughest environments,” said Pearl, per Auburn Rivals. "If you talk about Auburn and Duke, both teams are really good this year, but one thing we have in common is that we both play in very intimidating places. Cameron Indoor Stadium is probably the most famous homecourt advantage in college basketball, and Neville Arena certainly has become that.”
The Tigers and the Blue Devils will tip off at 8:15 p.m. central time from Durham, North Carolina.
Football players heading to big all-star games
With the regular season in the rearview mirror, many Auburn football seniors will be looking to raise their draft stock or hit the field for one last big game in the post-season, and they will get their chances in all-star games.
Eugene Asante, Jarquez Hunter, and Jalen McLeod have all accepted invitations to the 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. The trio were big contributors for the Tigers during their time on the Plains, and will take part in the NFL showcase in February.
Meanwhile, Rivaldo Fairweather will play in the East-West Shrine Bowl, the nation's oldest all-star game, which will take place at the end of January in Arlington, Texas.
