In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Bruce Pearl reacts to his team winning the outright SEC title, and NFL combine results are in for former Auburn Tigers
Saturday afternoon, head coach Bruce Pearl and his Auburn basketball team defeated Kentucky in Rupp Arena for the first time since 1988. The 94-78 win was enough for the Tigers to clinch at least a share of the SEC regular-season title, but with Tennessee's buzzer-beater victory over Alabama, Auburn basketball locked down the title without having to share.
The Tigers are regular season SEC champions, have locked down the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament, and likely locked down the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. For Pearl, it's just one more thing that makes this season special.
"It was just one blessing after another," Pearl said, per Auburn Undercover. "It was almost more than we deserve or ever expected. You go up to Rupp to play Kentucky, and you know the championship is on the line, and we've got such great competition — teams likeand Alabama that are just right there on our heels. We know we've got three Quad 1 games left to play: at Kentucky, at, Alabama at home. The thing you work for all year long is a championship, and it's very much up in the air on Saturday."
