In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, QB commit Deuce Knight has been upgraded to 5-star status and freshman Malik Blocton shares the mindset of the younger players
One of the brightest aspects of the Auburn football program right now is the recruiting class of 2025 and quarterback commit Deuce Knight. The Mississippi native was committed to Notre Dame since September of 2023, but spent the past year visiting Auburn and ultimately flipped his commitment on October 2.
After the most recent updates to the recruiting databases, Knight has been upgraded to a 5-star in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Knight now ranks as the #32 overall prospect in the class of 2025 and the #6 quarterback.
Freshman Malik Blocton shares the mindset of the younger players
While the future of Auburn football is promising, the present is more of a struggle. The Tigers are amid a four-game skid and have yet to pick up a conference win this season. It's even more disappointing because improvement, rather than regression, was expected in head coach Hugh Freeze's second year.
Still, the youngest members of the Auburn football program see the vision. According to true freshman defensive lineman Malik Blocton, everyone knew what they were signing up for and they are committed to the rebuild of the program.
"None of us are soft-hearted," Blocton said, per Auburn Undercover. "We knew what we were coming into. We knew it might take a couple years. Was hoping that it didn't. Was hoping that we'd be the class. But it's going to take more than us. It is. We're just going to have to stick through the storm.
"But storm's isn't going to last that long, I can tell y'all that right now. It's not going to last for long."
