In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn's matchup with Baylor has been moved to Friday, and Johnnie Harris has been fired from her position as head women's basketball coach

For the first time in nearly a decade, the Auburn football team will play a game on a day that is not Saturday. The Tigers' season opener against the Baylor Bears, originally scheduled for Saturday, August 30, has been moved up one day to be played on Friday, August 29.

The game will be played at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, and it will be the fifth meeting between the Tigers and the Bears. Baylor finished with a 8-4 record in the 2024 season and lost to LSU in the Texas Bowl in the post-season. Meanwhile, Auburn football will be looking to bounce back from another losing season under head coach Hugh Freeze.

Johnnie Harris is out as head coach of women's basketball

Auburn Athletics Director John Cohen announced earlier this week that the Auburn women's basketball program will be heading in a different direction and parting ways with head coach Johnnie Harris.

"After a thorough review of our women's basketball program, I have made the difficult decision that a leadership change is in the best interest of Auburn University," Cohen said, per Auburn Undercover. "I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Johnnie. Having worked with her for more than a decade at two institutions, I know Johnnie is an exceptional person with a great basketball mind. I thank Johnnie for the way she represented Auburn and for her contributions to our women's basketball program. While these decisions are never easy, the program must move in a new direction."

Harris spent four seasons on the Plains and finished her Auburn career with a 58-63 overall record and an 18-46 record in conference play.
