Bo Nix couldn't lead the Denver Broncos to a win against the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Playoffs. In fact, his team couldn't help him compete in a 31-7 blowout from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. Nix was 13/22 passing with a touchdown with 187 all-purpose yards.
But that doesn't take anything away from what was otherwise a perfect rookie season for Nix in the Mile High City.
Nix had 3,775 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, plus an extra 430 rushing yards and four touchdowns with his legs. His 12 interceptions weren't ideal, but Nix will be the first person who will admit that.
In fact, Nix's reaction to the loss was anything a Broncos fan would ask for.
"The cliché, good answer would be, we had a winning season, we made it to the playoff, we did something we haven't done in a while, we competed hard against teams that are really good and we just kind of prove to ourselves that we belong in some of these games," Nix said, per NFL.com. "But you play this game to reach the highest level and so, I don't want to be complacent. I don't want to ever just be comfortable, satisfied and happy with something that looks good on the outside. You play this game to win, and everybody is working for a Super Bowl, and we owe that to ourselves because of the time we put into it."
Nix isn't celebrating moral victories from his rookie season. It was the first playoff appearance for Denver since 2015, but Nix doesn't feel the job is done.
Because it's not. And the fact that Nix is willing to admit that and get on his own case for not being good enough shows that he'll get there in the future.
Nix didn't set the bar too high in Denver. The rest of his career now has a steady trajectory.
It was an imperfectly perfect rookie season.
