It's a big week for the Auburn baseball team, which is slated to host multiple top-5 teams on the Plains this week.
Things kick off on Tuesday afternoon, when the No. 5 Auburn Tigers take on the No. 3 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the highest-ranked matchup in Plainsman Park history. With the best offense in the country, Georgia Tech is boasting a .393 batting average, the best to ever be recorded through the first five weeks of the season.
Auburn's pitching staff has done a phenomenal job so far in 2026, but they will face a big test in the Yellow Jackets in the midweek matchup. Right-handed pitcher Andreas Alvarez is expected to get the start for Auburn. The Tigers have won four straight games against Georgia Tech in the last two years.
Then, this weekend, the No. 52 Texas Longhorns make the trip to the Plains for a three-game series.
"This is arguably the most high-profile week in the history of Plainsman Park, featuring three of the top four teams in the country for four games," Head Coach Butch Thompson said, per Auburn Undercover. "It's the reason guys come and play at Auburn, to be challenged and compete at the highest level. We always like to say 'Iron sharpens iron,' and that couldn't be more true about this week. We'll need the Auburn Family behind us to continue on the way we've been trending."
Tuesday night's game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ with the first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
