Internet trolls spread a graphic of No. 8 on Auburn football hitting the transfer portal, but it wasn't Cam Coleman who was leaving the Plains. The Tigers' other No. 8, Antonio Kite, actually did hit the portal when it opened.
Coleman took to Instagram to share a story denying that he'd be breaking up the "Freeze Four" with what'd be a program-shaking departure.
"I am not in the transfer portal!" exclaimed Coleman.
Hank Brown had his transfer portal entry announced previously before he claimed it was false but then left a week later. It wouldn't be unprecedented on this Tigers roster if Coleman did ultimately decide to transfer.
With that said, there is no evidence Coleman is considering it. Clearly, the thought of it offends the Phenix City product.
Let's be clear, though: there will be transfer portal losses. Who it will be is unclear, because Hugh Freeze's players don't talk business with the media like that.
Kite had been dismissed from the program in October after missing several practices, so it wasn't a surprise that he moved on. Caleb Burton and Camden Brown have both left the WR room. TEs Micah Riley and Grant Hidalgo joined them. Holden Geriner joined Brown in leaving the QB room. Three defenders, an OL, and a punter make up the rest of the transfers so far.
Coleman would be a far bigger loss than anyone AU has lost. Luckily, it doesn't appear that's on the table during a critical offseason for Freeze and Co.
