Plenty of people are still pretty upset following No. 1 Auburn's heartbreaking loss to No. 7 Alabama on Saturday. The biggest storyline, though, was senior Chad Baker-Mazara costing the Tigers big time, throwing a cheap elbow at Alabama's Chris Youngblood and getting ejected.
A flagrant 2 was called and Baker-Mazara was thrown out of the game. Since then, a lot of fans and pundits have been calling the veteran guard out. The hope is Baker-Mazara will finally learn from his mistakes and make better decisions to not put his team in danger.
However, it doesn't seem like he's taking things too seriously. On Saturday night, Baker-Mazara took to social media to call people out himself. In a since-deleted story, Baker-Mazara posted 'rent free' with laughing emojis in response to his awful mistake vs. the Tide. Bruce Pearl can't be happy seeing this.
Chad Baker-Mazara has Auburn fans furious following the loss to Alabama
This is pretty frustrating to see. After the ejection, ESPN's Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams both let Baker-Mazara know how disappointed they were in him. Not only that, but Greenberg said that if he were Pearl, he'd suspend him for the SEC Tournament to teach him a lesson.
The fact of the matter here is that CBM is hurting this team with his poor decisions. Auburn was in a dog fight with Alabama, yet his elbow on Youngblood came at the worst time possible. Had he been on the floor late in the action, perhaps the Tigers would be celebrating a win over a hated rival instead of being down in the dumps.
Pearl needs to sit down with Baker-Mazara and remind him that it's an honor to play for the Tigers and represent the university. It's a good thing he deleted his 'rent free' social media post, but it should have never gone up in the first place. Baker-Mazara needs to wake up and he needs to do so fast.
