Auburn football's recruiting has been interesting as of late. First, the Tigers lost three QBs to the portal: Holden Gerhiner, Walker White, and Hank Brown. Then, Hugh Freeze landed Jackson Arnold from Oklahoma via the transfer portal.

On Monday, Auburn signed former Stanford QB Ashton Daniels, leading to concerns as to whether five-star recruit Deuce Knight will remain with the Tigers.

Daniels is a six-foot-two, 215-pounder who posted an impressive 1,700 yards and 10 touchdowns in his junior season with the Cardinal. His best season came just a year prior: 2,247 yards with 11 touchdowns.

The new acquisition will join Arnold and Knight to make a completely unique QB room. No players from the team’s previous season are returning in 2025.

Is Deuce Knight going to stay at Auburn after Tigers add two transfer portal QBs?

Concerns have risen about Knight staying with the team in the wake of the two new transfer acquisitions, with many saying his time at Auburn will be incredibly limited. One user stated “Somebody hitting the portal. Too many QBs.”

The main issue here is not the number of QB’s, but rather the urgency at which all three will expect to play. Arnold, Knight, and now Daniels will likely all expect to start, leading to a dogfight between three players who’ve yet to step on Auburn’s campus as students.

As such, it stands to reason that someone will likely transfer at the end of the season due to their playing time expectations not being met. If not perhaps before it even starts.

Whatever the case, Auburn, a team that just recently struggled with QB play, has now found themselves flush with talent in the room.

It’ll just be a matter of utilizing and keeping these QBs long-term.
