Never change, Lane. Never change... Lane Kiffin is back to being himself once again. College football's ultimate troll has been masquerading as the great Ole Miss Rebels head coach for quite a while now, too long in fact... While Kiffin has the Rebels on the verge of making their first trip to the College Football Playoff to date, he seems more in tune with what his luxury automobile has to say.
On early Monday morning, Kiffin let it be known that the temperature in Oxford, Mississippi dropped below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. That means the roads may have been icy. The southeast is in the midst of a mid-November cold spell, far sooner than most of us expected. Not only did Mississippians have to drip their faucets last night, but they might have to come to grips with the Lane Train leaving soon.
Does a "Freeze warning" suggest Kiffin would pull a Tommy Tubverville and leave Ole Miss for Auburn?

Even though Kiffin is a man of the people, let's hope he does not venture into politics... Freeze actually coached at both schools too, with a burner phone-induced pitstop at Liberty caught in between. I will remember that Lynchburg gurney, and will you remember me when I say that Kiffin is the ultimate troll? Auburn is a better job than Ole Miss historically, but it feels like a lateral move if he were to leave.
Kiffin has also been tied to two other SEC jobs that opened up midseason in Florida, as well as at LSU.

For most other head coaches, this would be a complete and totally unnecessary distraction. When it comes to Kiffin, this is merely a weekly occurrence for him. Kiffin is never afraid to have as much fun as possible on social media every day, and twice on Saturday. Keep in mind that he is backed by the mega college football-coaching agent in Jimmy Sexton, so he will get paid handsomely either way...
As far as if Kiffin would be a good fit at Auburn, oh, absolutely! He has deep SEC ties from his time at Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee. Historically, it is much easier to recruit at Auburn than at Ole Miss. However, Kiffin's brilliance in the transfer portal has somehow made that a moot point. He could stay at Ole Miss and continue to build what he has. Kiffin is sustaining excellence at Ole Miss in a big way.
Ultimately, the only head coach that seems like he might be a better fit than Kiffin would be Eliah Drinkwitz. He was on Gus Malzahn's offensive staff when Cam Newton won a national championship for Gene Chizik. One would think he has gotten Missouri to as good as it can get as a football program in the modern world. Kiffin has a ton of leverage, but so does Drinkwitz. One of them may come here.
For now, let's sit back and watch whatever cryptic message Kiffin puts out there on the internet next.
