The Auburn football coaching staff continues to recruit ambitiously following spring practices. Recently, the Tigers locked down an official visit with one of the elite quarterbacks in the recruiting class of 2026.
4-star Landon Duckworth hails from Jackson, Alabama, in the southern part of the state. He is ranked as the No. 6 quarterback in his recruiting class and the No. 5 recruit out of his home state. Duckworth helped lead his team to the 4A state title last season, throwing for 3,439 yards and 39 touchdowns in addition to 648 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. A talented athlete, Duckworth also participates in basketball and track.
According to his recruiting profile on 247 Sports, Duckworth has locked down five official visits for the summer months. He will officially visit Auburn football on the weekend of May 16, Georgia on the weekend of May 30, South Carolina on the weekend of June 6, Florida State on the weekend of June 13, and Ole Miss on the weekend of June 20.
Duckworth was originally committed to South Carolina, announcing his pledge on August 5, 2023, and then walking it back almost a year later on June 25, 2024. Still, the Gamecocks have remained heavily involved in the recruitment of the talented quarterback, and he made his way to Columbia earlier this month to check out a spring practice. So far, it seems like South Carolina is the team to beat for Duckworth's commitment.
Currently, the Auburn football recruiting class of 2026 is made up of 7 commits and is ranked No. 23 overall, but the Tigers have yet to lock down their next quarterback.
