At the beginning of the 2026 season, the Auburn Tigers were set to face five opponents ranked in the preseason AP Poll. After the week one action, all five of the Tigers' ranked opponents remained in the top 25. Those teams are Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU and Alabama.
Following their 63-3 blowout over Tennessee State, the Georgia Bulldogs moved up to spot No. 2 from their original No. 3 spot, bypassing the Oregon Ducks who dropped down to spot No. 6. Georgia will host Western Kentucky next weekend.
LSU's massive victory over Clemson and Lane Kiffin's debut in Baton Rouge resulted in a 3-spot jump for the Tigers. LSU moved up from No. 11 to No. 8, hopping Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. They will next face Louisiana Tech.
Ole Miss played a close game on neutral ground against Louisville but narrowly pulled off a 41-38 victory. Still, Pete Golding, Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels remain at spot No. 9 as they prepare to take on Charlotte in Week 2.
Alabama took on the East Carolina Pirates and had a sound 48-10 win over the Pirates in Tuscaloosa in one of the hottest games on record. Kalen DeBoer and the Tide moved up one spot to No. 12, passing Texas Tech. They will have a slightly tougher challenge in Week 2 in their matchup on the road against Kentucky.
Auburn's fifth and final ranked opponent, Tennessee, moved up two spots to No. 18 after their 56-9 victory over Furman. The Volunteers jumped past Washington in the rankings and will take on Georgia Tech this weekend.
How many votes did the Auburn Tigers receive in the Week 2 AP Poll?
Though the 17-16 Auburn victory over Baylor was a close one, Alex Golesh and his team pulled off the feat of winning a close game, which is more than you can say about last year's squad. Was it the strongest debut for the Golesh Era? Maybe not, but there are many things to be positive about heading into Week 2.
The Auburn Tigers received only two votes in this week's poll. Other teams receiving two votes were Arizona State and Vanderbilt. The first team left out of the poll was Boise State with 86 votes, and then Florida with 83 votes.
The Tigers will hopefully give the voters more to consider this weekend in their home opener against Southern Miss.
