Deuce Knight might be playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2026, but the quarterback will be wearing the red and blue of Ole Miss, not the orange and navy of Auburn.

The former 5-star signee announced on Sunday that he has committed to the Rebels after one season on the Plains.

As a freshman at Auburn in 2025, Knight appeared in just two games, serving as mop-up duty against Ball State in Week 2 before getting the start against Mercer in the next-to-last game of the season. Against the Bears, the Lucedale, Miss., native put on a show, throwing for 239 yards and two touchdowns while running for 162 yards and four touchdowns in the 62-17 win.

The prized signee in the 2025 recruiting class by Hugh Freeze, Knight was looked at as the future of the Auburn program at quarterback, but with Freeze being fired in November after 35 games in charge of the Tigers, and Alex Golesh being hired from USF, there were questions of whether he would stay on the Plains or not.

Knight's departure part of a massive roster restructure

Golesh has restructured the Auburn roster in massive ways, losing close to 30 players, including Knight, to the transfer portal, while bringing in two quarterbacks from his former school, USF, in Byrum Brown and Locklan Hewlett. Knight joined Ashton Daniels and Jackson Arnold as Auburn quarterbacks who played last season and are now elsewhere.

Knight will walk into a situation at Ole Miss after the Rebels made the College Football Playoff semi-final, losing 31-27 to Miami on Thursday night after a season and postseason of disarray with former head coach Lane Kiffin leaving the Rebels for LSU after the regular season, leaving Pete Golden, now the permanent head coach for Ole Miss, to lead the Rebels through the playoffs.

With Trinidad Chambliss not being granted an extra year of eligibility, and Austin Simmons, who started the season as the starter at quarterback, leaving for Missouri, Knight has the chance to win the starting quarterback competition for the Rebels for this upcoming season.
