First year head coach Alex Golesh and the Auburn football team are focused on getting a win over the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend, but they have already suffered a loss in the lead up to the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry.
3-star cornerback Nash Johnson III announced earlier today through On3's Hayes Fawcett on X that he has flipped his commitment from Auburn to Georgia, saying, "1000% committed, staying [house emoji]. God got me [prayer hands emoji]."
Johnson committed to Auburn at the end of May, but he kept his recruitment open and took multiple official visits in the following months to Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Ole Miss and Georgia. According to Auburn247, the Bulldogs began pushing hard for Johnson over the summer, and he took a surprise in-season visit to Georgia just weeks ago.
The cornerback was originally committed to Kalen DeBoer and Alabama in 2025, but he reopened his recruitment and ultimately flipped to the Tigers in May before flipping again to the Dawgs this week.
From Powder Springs, Georgia, Johnson attends McEachern High School and was ranked as the No. 551 overall recruit in the class of 2027. He is ranked as the No. 54 cornerback and the No. 65 recruit out of the Peach State.
While Alex Golesh may be struggling to pick up wins on the field, he has done well in his first year of recruiting. The Tigers' recruiting class of 2027 is currently ranked No. 12 in the nation and No. 7 in the SEC. The class is made up of 24 commits from nine different states, the most (six) coming from Georgia.
After Johnson's flip, the Tigers have one remaining cornerback commit in 3-star Aidyn Wiggins. From Duncan, South Carolina, Wiggins is ranked as the No. 36 cornerback in the class of 2027 and the No. 7 recruit out of his home state.
