Former Auburn football head coach and current Alabama senator Tommy Tuberville sent rat poison to Nick Saban and Kalen DeBoer with interesting comments about the Crimson Tide's performance against Georgia during a 41-34 win in Week 5 of the 2024 season back in September.

“I’d never seen Alabama play on that level,” Tuberville said (h/t AL.com). “They look like they’re 10 feet off the ground above Georgia the whole first half and then it just totally flipped.”

Never seen them play like they did in the first half? Not during the six-championship Saban era from 2007-2023?

Brilliant comment. Not only does it gaslight Crimson Tide fans who aren't watching a better product on the field under DeBoer this season than what they saw under Saban, but it gives a false sense of confidence to an Alabama team not meeting the "Bama Standard" in the opinion of most.

As for his own Iron Bowl memories, Tuberville sounded retroactively stressed at having coached a decade on the Plains and playing in the state of Alabama's biggest game.

“The great thing about the Iron Bowl, it’s played on emotion and it’s only four quarters,” Tuberville said, “And so you try to hang in there. Like Auburn last year had a great chance to win a game. They lost on the last play of the game and they weren’t the best team.

“I promise you the Iron Bowl is not for coaches. It’s for fans and for players. As a coach, you’ve got the weight of all your fans on your shoulders and you just can’t wait to get it over with, you know, one way or the other.”

Tuberville sounds content sitting in a suite and watching the action. But sending rat poison to both Saban and DeBoer shows he still has orange and blue in his blood.
