Auburn football adds former Georgia Tech safety Taye Seymore
It's been a busy day for the Auburn football program in the transfer portal. Former Georgia Tech safety Taye Seymore becomes the Tigers' second commit out of the portal today after cornerback Raion Strader.
Seymore heard from Auburn shortly after entering the portal, and made his way to the Plains this weekend for a visit. He has prior connections to the Tigers; Auburn director of recruiting research and strategy Kenyatta Watson originally recruited the safety to the Yellow Jackets.
During his visit over the weekend, Seymore spent time with Watson and co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly.
"It was a good visit," Seymore said, per Auburn Undercover. "Coach Kelly and Hugh Freeze, they came in and welcomed me with open and warm arms. They gave me a visit around the facility and I like what I see. It's a great environment I feel like, great campus. I just feel like it had to be at the top of my list, so I made it a priority to get up here."
The Atlanta native originally signed with the Yellow Jackets as a member of their recruiting class of 2023. He entered the portal after two seasons with Georgia Tech and had a breakout sophomore year in which he logged 49 total tackles and two pass breakups. Seymore chose Auburn football over Indiana and Michigan State.
"How close everybody is," Seymore said on what sticks out about Auburn, per Auburn Rivals. "I found out that everybody on the staff has been together for longer than at least four or five years, that feels like it plays a big role in this and you would want to be a part of a staff that’s been together for a while, all connected on one."
Taye Seymore is the sixth player to commit to the Tigers from the transfer portal.
