With most of last year's team running out of eligibility ahead of the 2025-26 season, the Auburn basketball coaching staff is focused on reloading the roster after making to the Final Four for the second time in six years.
The Tigers have three incoming freshmen already committed in forward Sebastian Williams-Adams, guard Simon Walker, and guard Kaden Magwood. Two former JUCO players have already committed to the Tigers in guard Abdul Bashir and center Emeka Opurum.
Earlier this week, former Texas Tech guard Kevin Overton became the third player from the transfer portal to commit to Auburn basketball after former UCF guard Keyshawn Hall and former Mississippi State forward/center KeyShawn Murphy. With Denver Jones and Miles Kelly on their way out, Overton is the perfect guy to fill in the gap.
Last season, Overton averaged 7.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists coming off the bench for Texas Tech. He shot at 42.2 percent from the field, 33.1 percent from behind the arc and 77.9 percent from the free-throw line. He is also known for being a strong defender for the Red Raiders which will be key as he tries to fill in for Denver Jones.
Auburn is Overton's third stop in as many years of play. He began his collegiate career at Drake before transferring to Texas Tech. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Auburn basketball team is set to look completely different for the 2025-26 season with the news that Chad Baker-Mazara will enter the transfer portal. The Tigers will lose Jones, Kelly, Chris Moore, Dylan Cardwell, Johni Broome, Chaney Johnson and Ja'Heim Hudson due to eligibility. Jahki Howard entered the transfer portal, too, and the Tigers hope to return Tahaad Pettiford, who has declared for the NBA Draft.
