It's going to be raining cats and Razorbacks this weekend in Fayetteville, Arkansas, according to weather outlets. The Auburn Tigers are hitting the road this weekend to face off against interim head coach Bobby Petrino's Arkansas team, and as if it weren't going to be challenging enough for the Tigers, the weather is allegedly going to be terrible.
The Weather Channel forecast indicates that there is a 90 percent chance of rain for the day, and there will be strong rain showers and wind gusts from 10 to 15 miles per hour. However, head coach Hugh Freeze and his team have a plan, and they have been preparing the team to play in the rain all week long.
"Weather, you'll have to play it by ear," Freeze said, per Auburn Undercover. "We've, obviously, done wet-ball work in a team period every single day this week. Drenched it. I haven't looked to see what the weather is right now but that will play a factor, for sure, if it's pouring down rain. We'll probably slow it down some, ask the officials in pregame how often will you let us get a ball in? Because we'd like to run one in every play if needed unless we're going some tempo."
With the weather possibly impacting visibility, quarterback Jackson Arnold's ability to pass the ball and the wide receivers' ability to catch the passes, it's likely that star running back Jeremiah Cobb will get plenty of carries, especially if there is really a downpour.
"I think Cobb is playing at a really high level in the run game," Freeze said. "You know, if it's that kind of game, I'm sure there's going to be extra guys in the box. You've got to balance that with what can you really do in the conditions if they are really bad?"
The Tigers and the Razorbacks are set for an 11:45 kickoff on Saturday morning.
