The calendar may read late March, but plenty of people are already counting down the days for Week 1 of the college football campaign in August. Auburn football is in need of a bounce-back year, with pressure continuing to rise on Hugh Freeze.
Is it fair to say his seat is pretty dang warm leading up to his third campaign leading the program? You bet, as countless Auburn supporters were calling for him to be fired after last season. In Year 1, Auburn went 6-7 with a loss in the Liberty Bowl.
Then last campaign, a 5-7 record was posted. Yeah, that's not going to cut it and Freeze is responsible for how this team performs at the end of the day. So, what is the veteran head coach focused on in terms of getting results? His answer couldn't have been more obvious:
Hugh Freeze on Year 3 at Auburn: "We need to play better and win some games."

Hugh Freeze knows Auburn must do a 180 in 2025 to keep fans happy
Thanks for that hard-hitting analysis, Hugh! That response isn't inspiring much faith in him, but let's hope he's able to figure things out this season. When he first made the move to Auburn, the expectation was that he'd have the Tigers playing at a strong level again.
For him to post a 11-14 record in two years is completely unacceptable. It's no wonder that so many people are calling for his job. If Freeze posts another losing record, well, we don't have to tell you that it would put his future in charge of the program in jeopardy.
This is Auburn football we're talking about here. It feels like 100 years ago that this team was battling for national titles, but that came in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Freeze needs to find a way to get his team back to posting 10-win seasons at minimum and in a spot to reach the College Football Playoff. Otherwise, Auburn will need to find someone else to get that job done.
