In the era of the transfer portal, it has become rare to see players stay with one program for their entire collegiate career. Senior running back Jeremiah Cobb is currently in his fourth season with the Auburn Tigers, and his loyalty paid off with the biggest win of his career over the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs last weekend.

"It was awesome to be apart of that," Cobb said of the win. "Been working for that and that's my whole point of coming to Auburn, changing the script like that, so that was awesome."

It's been a long journey for Cobb, who was originally recruited to Auburn by former head coach Bryan Harsin's staff. He signed with Hugh Freeze's staff, and stuck around to learn as backup to star running back Jarquez Hunter through multiple losing seasons until his name was finally called. Now, he's the starting running back and an important team leader under head coach Alex Golesh.

Cobb said having the opportunity to see their hard work pay off in a win like that was important for team, especially for the young guys who have a future on the Plains.

"I love that because the younger guys get to see that," Cobb said. "When I was here, I didn't get to see nothing like that, like those big wins and finishing in the fourth quarter and all that, so for those young guys and for everybody on this team that just got here to see that is awesome."

Fininshing in the fourth quarter has historically been a huge problem for the Tigers, but this season the team has shown multiple times that they can win in close situations. When asked what the difference was this year, Cobb has a simple answer.

"Definitely Coach AG," Cobb said. "And how he just drills in our head like the fourth quarter, finishing, everything, it doesn't matter. Runs, catches, plays, just finishing and then taking that into the fourth quarter and doing what we need to do, staying detailed and not being lackadaisical with all that stuff."

For Jeremiah Cobb, the big win made it all worth it. For the young guys and the newcomers on the team, it showed that big wins are possible at Auburn. For the fans, it sparked renewed hope that the program is finally on the right track.

The Tigers return to action this weekend when they host Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers in Jordan-Hare Stadium for an 11 am kickoff on the Plains.
