Leave it to Lane Kiffin to rub salt in the wounds.
Hugh Freeze has been under fire from the fan base for spending more time on the links than on the recruiting trail. The fact that the third-year head coach was put on blast in Golf Digest is bad enough, but it only gets worse when Kiffin activates his social media troll game.
Kiffin grabbed an old X post from Freeze after he bragged about his role in winning a tournament for Moore's Mill Country Club and pounced.
Great job Coach!! Game is on 🔥 https://t.co/EluxmXfkZc

Of course, it doesn't help that Freeze has had some negative recruiting news over the past month, including losing linebacker Shadarius Toodle to Georgia. Auburn also lost out on the recruitment of four-star defensive lineman Earnest Rankins, who committed to FSU on July 2.
Both Freeze and Kiffin have some work to do on the trail
Auburn football recruiting is currently on life support. The Tigers have just seven commitments and are ranked 86th overall. Surely that's going to change as the season goes forward, but it has to be a concern for fans that see conference rivals Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and LSU all in the top 10, while Auburn is a spot behind Texas State.
And before Kiffin laughs too hard at Freeze's misfortunes, lest he be reminded that Ole Miss is currently sitting at No. 37 in those same rankings. Not a place that Kiffin wants to be with six months remaining before the Early Signing Period.
Maybe it's best for both coaches to spend less time on the links or the gulf when it's clear that the other programs in the SEC are putting extra work in on the trail.
