One isn’t able to look up Auburn football recruiting without seeing the name Deuce Knight. Many believe he is the one who will fully complete the rebuild and turn a struggling Tigers team around -- but he has to make it to the Plains first.
Knight officially visited the Ole Miss vs. Georgia game in which the Rebels took down the Dawgs who, before that day, hadn’t lost a regular-season game to a team not named Alabama in almost two years. Also at that game was Caleb Cunningham, a five-star Alabama receiver commit.
Cunningham flipped shortly after the game, leading many to speculate about Knight’s future with Hugh Freeze’s program.
The situation just got worse, as now Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss are “actively working” to flip Knight to Ole Miss, per On3.
This begs the question: will he go?
The fact of the matter is this -- regardless of the fact that this is Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart’s last year in college, the Rebels still have a viable “next-up” man. Contrarily, Freeze’s Tigers do not, and have in fact struggled immensely at the quarterback position this year.
It’ll come down to a decision that factors more than just two schools for Knight. Does he want to go to a school where he’ll fight for a starting spot and may or may not play before his junior or senior year, or does he want to play at Auburn, where he’ll make a difference right off the bat?
Only time will tell what Knight will choose.
