Two years later, Bryce Cain stands as the only member of the Freeze Four still in an Auburn uniform.

The rising sophomore announced on Sunday that he will return for his third season on the Plains.

“I am excited to get coached up by the new coaching staff and cannot wait to get back to work,” Cain posted on Twitter/X. “I love the fans and culture of Auburn and the thought of leaving never crossed my mind. War Eagle!!”

The Mobile, Ala., native caught four passes for 25 yards in 2025, while returning one kickoff for 25 yards. In his first season, Cain saw action in just three games, catching two passes for 33 yards.

Lone member of the Freeze Four

Cain joined Cam Coleman, Malcolm Simmons and Perry Thompson in signing with Auburn in the 2024 class, and the players earned the nickname “Freeze Four” after former Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze, who was influential in their coming to the Plains. After two seasons, 1,306 receiving yards and 13 touchdown catches, Coleman has entered the transfer portal, with his name being linked to SEC rivals Texas, Texas A&M and Alabama.

Simmons, who struggled early this past season before ending it with two breakout games, has also joined the portal, as has Thompson, leaving Cain the only member of that foursome left.

Cain’s return, along with Sam Turner, is a positive sign for Golesh and his staff after the mass departure of so much talent at that position. Along with the three “Freeze Four” players, Eric Singleton Jr. has announced his intent to enter the NFL draft, while Horatio Fields and Cam’Ron King have also entered the transfer portal, leaving the wide receiver position pretty bare for the new staff.

Golesh is targeting several of his former wide receivers at USF to join him at Auburn, including Keshaun Singleton, Chas Nimrod and Jeremiah Koger.
