Plainsman Park should be rocking as Auburn begins its journey on the Road to Omaha

Butch Thompson says he is going to have fun. I’m certain that his entire roster will be having fun. Why don’t you join them and make Plainsman Park one of the best home-field atmospheres in the country this weekend?

That’s what this team deserves. The Tigers went through a wringer of a schedule, including an SEC slate that was nothing but a never-ending array of tough challenges after tough challenges. And, they could have folded after a 1-5 start in conference play, but this team has too much skill and pride to have done that. They fought back, earning a national seed for the second year in a row, therefore giving their fans a chance to make a difference in the Road to Omaha.

Catcher Chase Fralick is ready for you to turn Plainsman into a dungeon of horrors for Milwaukee starting on Friday afternoon and continue to haunt the likes of UCF and NC State when they dare take on Thompson’s Tigers in the shadows of Jordan-Hare Stadium.

“You learn a lot about the Auburn family,” Fralick said. “They show up and they’re loud. You learn playing at home, you’ve got to keep momentum, shutting teams down when you score and getting on the scoreboard first and keeping fans into the game. We’re going to play our best baseball, and we’re excited that we get to do it at Plainsman Park.”

Plainsman Park needs to be at its best for NCAA Regional

And with Helmet Guy no longer with the Auburn fan base, the rest of Plainsman will have to take up the slack of creating energy when the Tigers need it the most, or willing the players to continue to pile it on when it seems the opponents are about to wilt and give up. That’s what national seeds do, and that’s what fans of a national seed should aspire to do.

Give them h-e-double-hockey-sticks when Auburn loads the bases. Make sure the noise rises a level every time the count gets to two strikes. Make it feel like the fourth quarter of an Iron Bowl when the Tigers have pummeled the Crimson Tide to pieces.

“I’ve had as much fun as I’ve ever had in my career, and I’m thanking them every day,” Thompson said. “I care about these guys, and I want them to have success. I’m going to have a blast. I’m fired up to see them compete. Everybody’s supposed to feel like they can make a run. We certainly do, but we’ve got to be ready to fight.”

That’s the same mentality Auburn fans should have.
