10 biggest NFL draft busts in Auburn football history

The Auburn football program has produced four first-overall NFL draft picks, but three of them haven't panned out in the league.

Two running backs from Auburn were taken in the first five picks of the 2005 NFL draft, and three of the first five selections were running backs. All three had disappointing careers and that draft could be pointed to as one of the first to begin to swing the pendulum against running back value.

Williams was grabbed three picks later than Brown, so that lessens the blow slightly and the fact that he won 2005 Offensive Rookie of the Year makes it hard to believe that Willaims is one spot higher than Brown on this list.

Well, the rest of his career will explain why. After his 1,178-yard campaign in 2005, Williams never broke the 1,000 yard threshold again and in 14 games in 2006, he rushed for 798 yards and one touchdown while averaging 3.5 yards per carry.

Williams dealt with injuries in 2007 and 2008, tearing his patellar tendon in his knee twice. He had a bounce-back year in 2009, but was never quite the same and ultimately will be remembered as another disappointing first round running back.
