Anthony Schwartz isn't happy that a torn ligament in his knee ended his 2024 season, but the former Auburn receiver sent a grateful message to the Miami Dolphins for allowing him to wear his home city's jersey.

"Was a lifelong dream of mine to put on these colors and play for the home team, sad this is how 2024 ends but God has never steered me wrong," Schwartz wrote on X.

The Dolphins placed the Fort Lauderdale native on the IR, but after such a serious injury, it's difficult to forecast whether or not he'll make it back to the NFL. Before his stint on the Dolphins as a practice squad member signee and then a reserve/future contract-holder, Schwartz was a three-year member of the Cleveland Browns.

Dawg Pound Daily's Greg Newland believes Schwartz wore out his welcome in The Land.

"What was beyond frustrating was continuing to see Schwartz get snaps each game," Newland prefaced before saying, "In 11 total games, he had four receptions for 51 yards, yet it felt like he was in the game at least 10 or 15 snaps per game just eating repetitions for the younger guys.”“Schwartz has an extremely limited route tree, struggles to catch the ball, and doesn’t even have the ability to return kicks. The only threat he posed was an end-around, which teams instantly queued on when he went in motion."

What's next for Anthony Schwartz?

Luckily, the UFL is always an option for players like Schwartz, and Tiger fans would flock to Protective Stadium to see him catch passes on the Birmingham Stallions.

Schwartz and Seth Williams are the only Auburn receivers drafted to the NFL in the last five years. Williams was let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 25 and may have to go the UFL route as well to springboard back to pro football's highest level.
