This Auburn football defensive back target has shut down rumors about returning to the Plains.

The Auburn football program has done an impressive job on the recruiting trail in the first year of head coach Hugh Freeze's tenure on the Plains. From the transfer portal to junior college to high school, the Tigers have been building relationships with recruits all around the country, not to mention recruiting the heck out of their own roster.

In this cycle, the Tigers have celebrated many flips, or recruits that have flipped their commitment from another program to Auburn football. Perry Thompson, Demarcus Riddick, Jamonta Waller, and Cam Coleman are just a few.

The Tigers were pushing for another flip target as well in 5-star defensive back KJ Bolden. The Buford, Georgia, native has been committed to the Florida State Seminoles since early August, but the Tigers never backed down and continued to recruit him. Despite getting Bolden, the #1 safety in the recruiting class of 2024, to campus many times over the past year—including a visit just a few weeks ago—he insists he will stick with Florida State on early signing day this week, per 247 Sports.

Bolden shut down rumors that he would be heading to the Plains Sunday afternoon after the end of his visit at Florida State, saying, "Nah, I'm not doing that." He told reporters he intends to sign with the Seminoles this Wednesday, seemingly shutting down his recruitment in public fashion.

Without Bolden, the Auburn football program still has 20 commits ahead of the early signing period, topped by two five-star wide receivers in Perry Thompson and Cam Coleman. The Tigers' class is ranked #11 in the nation and #6 in the SEC behind Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma. That being said, anything can happen on signing day, and Auburn is sure to pull some surprise commitments later this week.
