Quotes of note from Auburn football players about the new defense, team chemistry, and more

2024 needs to be the year of the Auburn Tigers. After three seasons of losing records, coaching changes, and overall dissatisfaction, there need to be results this year. With a highly-ranked class of 2024 on their way in and a coaching staff that head coach Hugh Freeze feels better about, hopefully the Tigers can get it done this fall. With A-Day less than a week away, here are some quotes from Auburn football players on the state of things in spring practice.

Keionte Scott on DJ Durkin's 'playing without thinking' style of defense, per Auburn Undercover:

"I love the scheme," Scott said. "Very aggressive, so I'm very excited for that. Me and the guys are going to be able to get called on and make plays, and it's going to give guys great opportunities to make those. It's a very exciting defense to be in."

Izavion "Too Tall" Miller on the 2024 offensive line, per Auburn Undercover:

"We're going to be strong, fearless and powerful," he said. "Relentless is the word, actually. You have to like constantly maul a person. Moving a person against their will is not easy every play. It is what it is."

Cam Coleman on the outside noise and high expectations, per Auburn Rivals:

“I know I wasn’t going to start right away,” said Coleman. “I’m just going to come here, put my head down and work, take coaching, do the little things right, do the details right, learn the offense because you can’t get on the field if you don’t know what you’re doing.

“Anything I can bring to the team, anything I can do to help, I’ll be able to do. Get first downs in crucial moments. Put points on the board, block. When the ball’s not coming to me, find work down the field. Not being a selfish teammate. Really just doing anything I can do to help the team win.”

Connor Lew on the team's chemistry throughout spring practice, per Auburn Live:

“With all the new faces coming in, I was excited to see how it would take place, but I think the group as a whole is gelling really well together–better than maybe I even expected in terms of spring,” Lew said. “I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how well just on and off the field we have been able to connect. That has definitely contributed to how we’ve been playing on the field. I’m happy with where we are right now.”

A-Day on the Plains is Saturday, April 6, with the scrimmage beginning at 1:00 p.m.
