Auburn football reporter Justin Ferguson (of the Auburn Observer) trolled LSU for having another tough Week 1 game in 2025, Clemson at Memorial Stadium, after losing to USC 27-20 in Las Vegas on September 1.

"well, LSU is probably desperate to get one of these Week 1 wins at some point, wonder who they’ve got next y—," on top of a screenshot of their Clemson matchup from FBSchedules.com.

LSU played FSU in New Orleans (2022) and Orlando (2023) in a neutral site home-and-home of sorts, and UCLA at the Rose Bowl in 2021. It's clear LSU AD Scott Woodward will not back down and intends to put his Tigers through the fire out of the gate every season indefinitely.

LSU may be playing a much different Clemson in 2025 and 2026 than the current version

Truth be told, Clemson may be a much different team during their home-and-home series with LSU at the current rate they're going.

Dabo Swinney's transfer-less Tigers were handily beaten 34-3 against Georgia at Mercedez-Benz Stadium. That was the second time in the NIL era the Bulldogs have knocked off Clemson. The first time was in 2021, when UGA continued their ongoing streak of regular season wins dating back to the 2020 Florida game.

Anyway, Clemson has two more ranked teams (NC State, FSU) in their next four matchups and host a non-conference game against App State; one of the Group of 5's biggest all-time spoilers. A bad start can have the program wondering if Swinney, who vehemently opposes use of the transfer portal, is the right fit at a major Power 4 school in the NIL era.

If Clemson hopes to receive hundreds of millions, if not billions, from private equity firms in the future to jump ship, it'll need to prove that it can compete. Swapping out Swinney for a more modern-thinking mind may be best if the Tigers don't turn the ship around.
