In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, Auburn baseball continues their downward spiral against Kentucky and women's basketball adds a talented transfer.

The Kentucky Wildcats swept the series over Auburn baseball, knocking the Tigers down to a 18-17 overall record and a 2-13 record in conference play. Pitching was a struggle throughout the weekend and the Wildcats continued to rack up homeruns.

Thursday night's game was a heartbreaking 5-6 loss that Auburn just couldn't capitalize on, and Friday's game was a complete struggle with the Tigers earning only one run to Kentucky's nine. Saturday things got off to a good start and Auburn went up by 7 runs but the Wildcats battled back, ultimatley toppling the Tigers 13-8.

"We're fighting to try to get on the board or get a lead," said AU coach Butch Thompson, per Auburn Undercover. "It was our third pitcher before we got somebody to settle the ballgame.

"I think it was giving them up and not punching back or getting our damage. We had a chance where we worked hard and got some guys on base, but never blew that gap or left the yard like our opponents have these last four games."

Women's basketball adds talented transfer

Auburn women's basketball head coach Johnnie Harris is already making moves in the offseason. Former 5-star prospect Taliah Scott, a McDonald's All-American and Florida Gatorade Player of the Year in 2023, announced her commitment to the Tigers via the transfer portal this weekend.

Scott played her freshman season at Arkansas and averaged 22.1 points per game and 36.4 minutes per game. The Auburn Plainsman reports that Scott scored double digits in every SEC contest she played and was a constant threat from behind the arc.

A massive get from the transfer portal, Scott will be the perfect piece to fill the void left by Honesty Scott-Grayson and will be another player to continue elevating the brand of Auburn women's basketball under Johnnie Harris.
