In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, the first three Auburn football kickoff times have been revealed and Georgia schedules the Tigers for their homecoming matchup

Auburn football's 2024 season will officially begin on the last day of August this year, starting things off with a five-game stretch played in Jordan-Hare Stadium. That's right, the Tigers will have the home-field advantage for the first five games of the season, giving them every opportunity to start off strong in head coach Hugh Freeze's second season.

Earlier this week the SEC released the kickoff times for the first three games of the season. On August 31, Auburn football will host Alabama A&M under the lights for a 6:30 pm kick.

The following week, on Sept. 7, the Tigers welcome Cal to the Plains for a 2:30 pm matchup, where the west coast Golden Bears will have to contend with the southern heat and humidity. In Week 3, Auburn will face off against New Mexico on Sept. 14 with another 6:30 pm kickoff.

Georgia schedules the Tigers for their homecoming matchup

During all the scheduling announcements, the University of Georgia dropped a surprise announcement that many Auburn football players and fans took personally. UGA has officially designated The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry, to be played on Oct. 5, as the Dawgs' homecoming matchup.

Needless to say, the Auburn players and fans alike felt the disrespect. Running back Damari Alston, linebacker Eugene Asante, and running back Jarquez Hunter all posted comments about it on their personal social media.

There are many people that are doubting Auburn football ahead of the 2024 season, but the sentiment from the program seems to be that the Tigers are on the up and up and could be a sleeping giant. Either way, the team now has something to prove come Oct. 5.
