Auburn Tigers news: Flip target takes last visits, Jarquez Hunter's future uncertain
Ahead of the December 20 Early Signing Day, the Auburn Tigers are working hard to flip FSU commit KJ Bolden, who's been opening his recruitment up to multiple schools.
Meanwhile, Jarquez Hunter may not be a lock to return to the Plains as what was previously thought. What might Hunter's next move be?
Let's take a look at today's news roundup.
Auburn Tigers reportedly still in on KJ Bolden despite recruit's claims
Bolden visited FSU on December 18 and claimed that his recruitment was shut down while speaking to reporters afterwards.
"I can’t speak too much on it but I got my (NLI) papers today though," Bolden said (h/t Rivals). "(The focus is) just building my relationships with the team, Coach Norvell and the guys. We did a lot of bonding things learning the plays and stuff like that. I come down here a lot so just trying to hit on things that I haven't hit on. Those are my brothers right there, since 7 on 7 we've been cool. Just being able to kick it with them was great vibes and it was good to bring us closer together."
On3's Chad Simmons heard otherwise, though.
"I am told KJ Bolden is keeping an 'open mind' and hearing every coach [FSU, Auburn, Georgia] out one last time," Simmons said.
Stay tuned on this one.
Jarquez Hunter unsure about his career's next step
Auburn's RB1 isn't sure he'll be in Auburn by the start of next season. Hunter said that he had "mixed thoughts" about what his career's next step will be.
"Auburn RB Jarquez Hunter says he hasn’t made a final official decision on next season," On3's Justin Hokanson wrote. "Hunter said he hasn’t had a definite coming back or leaving moment yet.
After a suspension to start the season -- one which followed a hellish offseason -- that caused him to miss the opener against UMass, Hunter played the rest of the season and led the team in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns on nearly six yards per carry.
