Auburn Tigers News: Jarrett Stidham on competing with Bo Nix, AU lands Miles Kelly
In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, two former Auburn football quarterbacks are competing for QB1 in the NFL, and Miles Kelly commits to Auburn basketball
Earlier this year, former Oregon and Auburn football quarterback Bo Nix was drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 12th overall pick. Nix will join another former Auburn QB, Jarrett Stidham, on the roster. Though the pair were never teammates, Nix was the successor to Stidham's two-year career on the Plains.
Stidham ended last season as the Broncos' starter but will compete with Nix and Zach Wilson during the offseason to play the role of QB1 again. It is not new territory for Stidham, who has several years in the league under his belt and who has dealt with quarterback competition before.
“I’ve dealt with this before when I was in New England with,” Stidham said, per On3 Sports. “It’s a business and I totally understand it. But at the same time, I’m here to compete. I’m not going to just sit down and let someone else walk in here and [just take the role]. I’m going to work my butt off to get the job. (And) I’m super excited about it.”
Miles Kelly commits to Auburn basketball
Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl was looking for another point guard transfer to round out his 2024-25 roster, and today he got one. Former Georgia Tech PG Miles Kelly committed to the Tigers, becoming the third transfer addition to the squad alongside JP Pegues and Ja'Heim Hudson.
Miles spent three seasons with the Yellow Jackets and was the team's leading scorer last season, averaging 13.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 36.9 percent from the field. Auburn Undercover's Nathan King reports that although Kelly's offensive stats dipped last season, his defensive performance was greatly improved.
