In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News, head coach Hugh Freeze calls this player most improved and Cam Coleman talks about facing outside pressure

There were plenty of opportunities for players to step up on defense after Auburn football sent a few starters to the NFL after last season. Entering his third year on the Plains, safety Caleb Wooden is poised to enter the starting rotation for the Tigers after a great offseason.

After spending his first few seasons swapping between safety and nickel, Wooden was able to lock in on the safety position this offseason and has all but locked down the starting job alongside Texas transfer Jerrin Thompson.

"Caleb Wooden might be the most improved on that side of the ball," Hugh Freeze said this week, per Auburn Undercover.

Safeties coach Charles Kelly said that Wooden has done a great job this summer and is probably in the best shape he's ever seen. Though he's been a solid contributor over the last two years, the 2024 season could be the breakout year for Caleb Wooden.

Cam Coleman talks about facing outside pressure

No other Auburn football player has been talked about as much over the offseason as Cam Coleman. The true freshman wide receiver is the crown jewel of the Tigers' 2024 recruiting class and is expected to be a superstar in his first year on the Plains.

Coleman has received abundant praise from both his coaches and teammates, lauding him for his work ethic, his humble nature, and his desire to compete. But as an 18-year-old kid, is the pressure getting to the wide receiver?

“I haven’t really thought about it too much. I’m just worried about playing ball,” Coleman said when asked about the pressure in the spring, per AL.com. As far as Coleman is concerned, he will continue to put his head down and work hard to be the best ball player he can be.
