In today's edition of Auburn Tigers News a former Auburn quarterback lands at another SEC school and an elite 2025 quarterback is expected to visit the Plains

It was no suprise when it was announced that former Auburn football quarterback Robby Ashford would be entering the transfer portal, but it may surprise some fans to find out his transfer destination. According to Mike Gittens, Ashford will remain in the SEC and sign with South Carolina.

Ashford spent two years on the Plains after transferring from Oregon ahead of the 2022 season. He did not see game action during his two years in Eugene, but competed for the starting QB job in 2022 with TJ Finley. Ashford eventually emerged as the starter after Finley was injured early in the season.

He lost the QB battle to Payton Thorne ahead of the 2023 season, but saw plenty of playing time in the first several games. Ultimately, Thorne was given the keys to the offense and Ashford took a back seat, leading to his departure from the Auburn football program.

Elite 2025 quarterback is expected to visit the Plains

This morning, On3's Chad Simmons broke the news that the #1 quarterback in the recruiting class of 2026, Julian "Juju" Lewis, has reclassified to the 2025 class. A native of Carrollton, GA, Lewis has been committed to the USC Trojans since August of 2023.

247 Sports gives the QB 5 stars, and ranks him as the #2 overall QB in the recruiting class of 2025 and the #3 prospect out of the Peach State. According to Auburn Live's Jeffrey Lee, Lewis will be visiting Auburn football soon.

Lewis has over 30 offers from programs around the country, and in July of 2023 he named Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and USC as his top eight programs. He camped at Auburn over the summer, and took an unofficial visit to campus back in September.

He will return to the Plains again soon, but the Tigers will have to fight off Alabama, Texas, and Georgia to win the commitment of the elite QB.
