Bo Nix's Auburn cheerleading wife Izzy shares spiritual five-word statement after Broncos debut
Bo Nix's wife, former Auburn cheerleader Izzy Nix, is the strongest connection to the Plains the Denver Broncos QB has.
Her words following Nix's successful pro debut in the Broncos' 34-30 win over the Indianapolis Colts on August 11 sounded like those of an Auburn Tiger.
“Lived in answered prayers today,” Izzy captioned on an Instagram story with an accompanying picture from the preseason game from Lucas Oil Stadium (h/t The New York Post).
Nix completed 15 of his 21 pass attempts and amassed 125 yards and a touchdown. The debut was as perfectly imperfect as an NFL rookie could have on paper. But not everyone was impressed with the public's first look at the 2024 NFL draft's No. 12 pick.
PFF analyst dubs Bo Nix's Denver Broncos debut as 'really rough'
PFF's Jackson McIntire labeled Nix's debut "really rough" and showed five instances of rookie mistakes. In essence, Nix's debut is fine as one with a few "rookie mistakes," but those errors can sink the ship in 2024 and beyond if not corrected.
Nix is clearly not used to the athleticism of opposing NFL defensive fronts. Two years in the Pac-12 moved the needle the wrong way from an experience perspective after contending with SEC West defenses for three years.
It's not all that concerning, though.
Nix was never going to have it easy right away after the Broncos. Sean Payton had countless off-field distractions in 2023 that derailed the on-field product, and the offensive line is highly compensated but ceded 52 sacks last year.
Right right away? As in the preseason's first tune-up? In a game that means nothing in the grand scheme besides satisfying a football-starved public?
Who cares?
When the games count, we can see if these types of throws are cut down on. NFL preseason is a glorified practice that provides better practice footage than intrasquad scrimmages.
Until then, don't get too high or too low on Nix and the reactions his play inspires.
