If you value Bo Nix's opinion, you should be over the moon about incoming Auburn football 2024 quarterback recruit Walker White. During Senior Bowl week, Nix spoke strongly in support of White's playing acumen, and more importantly, his character.

“I know they’re getting a really good player,” Nix said of White during Senior Bowl media day in Mobile on Jan. 31 (h/t AL.com). “They’re getting a good guy, too. I understand that he works really hard and he’s a great teammate.

“I expect him to have a fun career. He’s going to be able to learn and pick up a lot because I’ve just heard the people he’s worked with in the past and everyone I’ve talked to speaks very high about him. I’ve only been able to talk to him a few times and be around him just a couple, but I think Auburn got a good one.”

Bo Nix wants Auburn football to give Walker White a chance

After Nix was done praising White, he spoke a sardonic line indicating worries about how Auburn was going to use him.

“I just hope they give him a chance,” Nix said of White.

With the quarterback position a question mark after Payton Thorne's dismal Music City Bowl performance and Hank Brown's surprisingly productive second-half drives in the same game, White has a legitimate chance to steal the starting job in 2024.

That is, of course, if Hugh Freeze and Co. don't pivot after A-Day and add a QB from the transfer portal after declaring his confidence in the room as is, but more specifically Thorne, in late December.

Nix has declared his allegiance to both Oregon and Auburn, but if White isn't treated well, the chasm that exists between he and the football program figures to widen even more.
