Bryan Harsin has breakdown about 2021 Auburn football season after Noah Lyles wins bronze with COVID-19
Bryan Harsin was bothered about the 2021 Auburn football season after OutKick's Clay Travis made a point about American runner Noah Lyles winning a bronze medal in the men's 200-meter sprint-- taking to X to complain about the circumstances surrounding his first of two seasons on the Plains.
"Noah Lyles won the bronze medal in the 200 meters WHILE HE HAD COVID," Travis prefaced before saying, "Remember when they all told you if you tested positive for COVID you couldn’t even be at the facility? Now you can win Olympic medals while competing with it."
"We refused common sense & decency & instead just made up rules that negatively affected people.," Harsin said in response to Travis. "We shamed & persecuted those that didn’t comply. Now we all get to see how ridiculously that time was managed."
Bryan Harsin has no crutch to stand on after disastrous two years recruiting, or rather not recruiting, for Auburn football
Nope. Sorry. Can't blame COVID-19 on this one, Mr. Harsin. There were no substantial efforts to even connect with local high school coaches by phone and when visits were allowed, they weren't made. Harsin's first class was a No. 19-ranked class for a reason.
Ed Rigby, who was then at Eufala, called out Harsin and every other school in the state besides Alabama and Tuskegee back in 2022 for not even showing up. Harsin was still Auburn's coach at the time so Rigby didn't call him out specifically.
“What I like to see is you actually show up,” Rigby said (h/t The Montgomery Advertiser). “What I like to see is somebody who keeps coming by: ‘Coach, I know you ain't got nothing for me this year, but tell me about who does have somebody for me. You’re playing Central and Opelika: Tell me what they’ve got. Hey, what are your thoughts on this player? Hey, you played so-and-so, tell me about him.’
Couple the local coaches saying he didn't do the work on the recruiting trail with Bo Nix reporting he was miserable under him, and you have a head coach in Harsin who was underqualified for the Tigers job in a profound way.
