The official Auburn football X account shared a video of Cam Newton endorsing Hugh Freeze's Tigers, and it'd be understandable if Tiger fans across the map felt compelled to run through a brick wall upon viewing.

"Yeah, that's more like it. Bring on the Freeze baby. War Eagle," Newton said.

Chills.

Cam Newton will always have Auburn football even if he may no longer have the NFL

It cannot be stressed enough that Newton changed Auburn's trajectory at nearly a perfect time in the sport's timeline. Winning a title in 2010/2011 meant the Tigers entered rarified air as a recent BCS Champion as the sport shifted to the College Football Playoff era.

The sport has never been bigger than the 2010s and 2020s and continues to grow exponentially every year. Newton gave AU a seat at the big boy's table.

Newton gave Auburn a Heisman winner, a No. 1 overall pick, and an NFL MVP to tout to recruits. Hell, recruits saw what he did with their own eyes growing up. Young Tiger fans in the state of Alabama who turned into FBS prospects were given their greatest sports memories from Newton's unmatched dominance in 2010.

Let's not forget that Newton made Gus Malzahn an obvious head coaching candidate and singlehandedly got him hired as Arkansas State's. He returned triumphantly when Gene Chizik's run on the Plains wore out its welcome and brought Auburn consistent winning until he was fired following the COVID-stricken 2020 season.

Newton bridged the gap from the post-Tommy Tuberville era to AU's pre-NIL College Football Playoff era success with the greatest single season the sport has ever seen.

No matter what the NFL does, and it appears recent comments may work against him ever making a comeback, Newton will have Auburn. Good on the program for not abandoning him when he's under fire. Likewise, good on Newton for buying into what Freeze is doing; complete with the acting job and pun usage in Auburn football's X promo.

With the talent on the roster Freeze has brought aboard for the 2024 season and his 2025 and 2026 top-five-ranked recruiting classes, it's hard to blame Newton for doing so.
