No, Johni Broome did not join Bruce Pearl in endorsing Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump ahead of the November election. Trending Politics News and Twitter influencer Nick Adams were both duped by an imposter Broome account that got Pearl to retweet a made-up Broome endorsement.
To be fair to the self-proclaimed "alpha male" Adams, he just retweeted the article on August 29 thinking that an outlet worth a damn would look into the issue further. It's Trending Politics News that should be taking the August 27 piece down, or at minimum, issuing a correction.
Good luck finding many outlets on either side of the aisle that are willing to do that.
Broome has denounced the fake account in the past. That July 15 post was the last post Broome shared until August 29; when he shared a link of his Twitch account shortly after Adams' post.
Bruce Pearl has Auburn basketball at the center of the United States' culture war
Pearl has talked his Tigers hoops program into the national spotlight. While Pearl has been political for years, he finally went viral for calling Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris a "socialist" and "woke." Those comments caught on and led to former CNN contributor Roland Martin, who leaked CNN town hall questions to former DNC Chair Donna Brazile to help out then-democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016, to launch a partisan attack on Pearl.
Martin implored recruits not to commit to Pearl's Auburn basketball program.
"To all Black ballplayers and their parents considering (Auburn men's basketball), this is the trash Bruce Pearl tweets," Martin tweeted. "There are many other SEC schools to consider. Choose accordingly."
Pearl has not only himself, but now even his star player Broome embroiled in America's political and social culture war. Broome didn't even ask to be involved, but Pearl's Twitter gaffe retweeting his imposter and irresponsible news outlets reporting he said something he didn't thrust him into it.
