Predominantly Orange's Lou Scataglia is worried about former Auburn football star Bo Nix's future in Denver given Broncos head coach Sean Payton's infatuation with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott; a possible free agent in 2025.

Scataglia wondered aloud about it, asking multiple questions with a doom-and-gloom outlook for Nix.

"Would Sean Payton toss the Bo Nix era aside to sign Dak Prescott? Just how good would Nix have to be in year one for Payton to not even consider something like this? Would modest production by Nix in year one be enough for Payton to double-down on the QB?

"To me, this feels like an impossible scenario for the Denver Broncos to navigate," Scataglia wrote.

Payton was highly complimentary of Prescott back in November 2018 ahead of a matchup between the coach's New Orleans Saints and the QB's Cowboys.

“I think he is [an] exceptional leader," Payton prefaced before saying, "I think he is strong in the pocket and he is a guy who can come out of trouble if you will. He can come off of sacks, out of tackles, extend plays. I think he has a real good presence in the pocket. He can beat you with his arm and he can beat you with his feet.”

Former Auburn football star Bo Nix faces more looming pressure in Jarrett Stidham

Forget Prescott. Nix is facing stiff competition in the Broncos QB room in fellow Tigers alum Jarrett Stidham -- who is thus far pushing the Pinson product to the limit during offseason workouts. Stidham has more NFL experience, specifically in-game reps in Payton's sets.

Prescott is a speculative play based on old coach speak from over half a decade ago. Stidham is a live threat and the singular force who can keep Nix on the sidelines during his rookie season in the Mile High City.

Zach Wilson doesn't appear like he'll be escaping the malaise that is quickly making his career irrelevant, but Stidham is doing everything possible to earn an NFL starting spot after five seasons waiting for such a chance.
