The ESPN College GameDay crew unanimously backed Auburn in their Week 2 matchup with Cal at Jordan-Hare Stadium, but Nick Saban took it a step further -- claiming that the Tigers will dominate against the Golden Bears.

“I think Auburn will dominate this game,” Saban said just hours after he said something he himself labeled as hard to hear for Alabama fans; that being Auburn will be the SEC's most improved team in 2024. That sentiment was shared by Saban during Week 0 in Dublin, Ireland as well.

Auburn enters the Cal game as a nearly two-touchdown favorite. No ESPN analyst wanted to take the risk of a bad beat pick after how dominant the Tigers looked in Week 1 against Alabama A&M. Auburn put up 73 points in just 50 minutes of game-time after Hugh Freeze and Bulldogs head coach Connell Maynor agreed to shorten the game. Cal is coming off a 31-13 win over UC Davis at home in Week 1.

Auburn vs Cal start time, TV schedule for Week 2 matchup

Auburn and Cal will kickoff their SEC-ACC matchup at 2:30 CT on ESPN2.

The matchup will be critical for Auburn's hopes of being ranked by the start of SEC play in two weeks. After putting the world on notice with a dominant showing from the Freeze Four and transfer WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith through the air and Payton Thorne and Jarquez Hunter on the ground, AU is looking like they can be more than a spoiler in 2024.
