When does the NCAA transfer portal spring window open and close?
All the information you need about the NCAA transfer portal spring window
It's April 16, and the NCAA transfer portal spring window has officially opened. The portal officially launched in 2018 as an NCAA-wide database to facilitate the process of student athletes looking to transfer to other schools. Rules have been changed many times since the portal's inception, and over the past few years it has become extremely popular.
For undergraduate student-athletes, they must enter the portal during specified windows, but can make their decision to go to a program after the window has closed. Graduate student-athletes are exempt from the transfer windows and can enter the portal regardless of whether or not it is open.
The current open window is the spring window, a 15-day period around the time when programs are finishing up spring practice and gearing up for summer workouts. The window will be open from April 16 to April 30.
The Auburn football program will be expected to lose a few players in this window and target a few more, specifically wide receivers and defensive linemen.
According to CBS, the following are some of the most notable players to have entered the NCAA transfer portal during the spring window so far:
- Kadyn Proctor, OT, Iowa (announced)
- Dallan Hayden, RB, Ohio State (announced)
- Damien Martinez, RB, Oregon State (announced)
- Tacario Davis, CB Arizona (announced)
- Bill Norton, EDGE, Arizona (reported)
- Trent Howland, RB, Indiana (announced)
- Branson Hickman, IOL, SMU (announced)
- Philip Blidi, DL, Indiana (announced)
- Romello Height, EDGE, USC (announced)
- Marcus Bryant, OT, SMU (announced)
Auburn football has expressed interest in both running back Dallan Hayden from Ohio State and defensive lineman Philip Blidi from Indiana. Also of note is Romello Height's portal entry, as the edge used to play for Auburn before transferring to USC.
